Part of Blackdown Scout District, Staplegrove is an established and active group on the outskirts of Taunton in Somerset. Currently the group has three sections who each meet once a week in our own private scout hut. The first section is Beavers for children aged between 6-8, progressing onto Cubs for ages 8-11, and finally Scouts for young people aged between 11-14 years. To find out some more information regarding each section of our scouting family, please visit the appropriate page from the main menu. Our programmes are truly varied and exciting, offering young people challenging yet rewarding experiences. Many activities outside of the hut will be first time experiences for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts; allowing them to become more independent and follow their own pathway. The benefits of becoming a scout are vast. As well as developing social, team working and leadership skills you will make new friends, try new experiences and have a lot of fun. Achievement and hard work are also recognised by the awarding of badges. These are great achievements, and the diversity of badges now on offer to Beavers, Cubs and Scouts is truly unbelievable.
Scouting is a once in a lifetime opportunity and once you join you'll keep wanting to come back for more. As well as young people, we are always on the look out for new leaders and helpers who can spare a few hours per week. Even if you don't want to be involved with a section, our executive committee are always looking for new members, with roles ranging from fundraising to finance and maintenance to management. We urge you to get in contact if you have any queries or would like some more information. Please do so using our contact page.
